During Heracles task where he has to fight the Hydra, Hera sends a giant crab to distract Heracles so that fighting the Hydra is more difficult. To be purified of these murders, Heracles is told that he must serve his cousin for twelve years, and do twelve tasks.
However, the 'enemies' were actually Megara and their children. She also makes Heracles go mad in one story, where he thinks that his house is that of an enemies, and he goes from room to room hunting enemies. The first of these being snakes sent when Heracles is only eight months old. Hera, being known for taking out her anger on Zeus' lovers and the children that come from these affairs, sends countless creatures to try and kill Heracles throughout many of the myths. In reality, or mythality if you will, Hera was once again upset with Zeus having another affair with a mortal women, this one leading to Heracles' birth. This would be when Hercules has had his god hood restored and is standing with Zeus, ready to welcome her son home after eighteen years apart. She isn't seen again in the movie until near the end. Since Hercules was turned mortal, she has to watch her son grow up from Olympus, along with Zeus. In the Disney version, Hera is Hercules' mother and wife of Zeus.
